We are thrilled this year to be featuring Della Mae as our SF Pride Parade float band. These virtuosic roots pickers have toured the world, spreading a message of love, acceptance, peace, and empowerment everywhere they go. Their message has broad appeal, landing them the IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year in 2013, a GRAMMY nomination on their debut album in 2014, and US State Department grants to travel to over 18 countries representing American culture and music.
Besides being one of the only current all-female internationally touring roots music acts, they are also clearly a band with a strong devotion to making the world more peaceful and accepting through roots music. So when the opportunity arose for them to play on this year's Bluegrass Pride float, it was a natural fit.
So to prepare you for their headlining performance in the SF Pride Parade next Sunday, here's a selection of some of my personal favorite songs by the band.
Don't forget to catch Della Mae on tour in California leading into Pride weekend -- they'll be playing at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mills Valley on Thursday, June 21st and at the Twisted Oak Winery in Vallecito on Saturday, June 23rd. For more information about their touring schedule, click here.
